Hot Stuff: Design Trends Heating Up the Molten Salt Reactor Race

In molten salt reactors, molten salt can be a coolant, carry the fuel, be a moderator, or support a fast spectrum. How does this flexibility play out in design decisions?

To try and sort out the MSR designs, I sorted them first by the fuel form (part of the coolant, as a separate salt loop or a solid fuel , e.g. TRISO). Then by breeding and so on.

Some interesting trends appear.
